Hey guys. Love the show. Working on my second grow and have both autos and photos. I was high I guess and mistakenly planted my auto in Solo cups to start. They are in FFOF. Could anyone advise as to how I should proceed? Should I immediately transplant into 3 gal? Have I really messed this up already with the auto? Thank you in advance for any assistance.

You screwed the pooch on that one. Just kidding, you can most definitely can transplant an auto without any serious ramifications as long as you do it carefully and before they become rootbound. I’ve got two Auto Ultimates from Dutch Passion starting in solos, just popped sunday, and I will be planting them out into their garden bed next week. I’d advise to try and get it transplanted within 2 weeks at most, but not before at least 4-5 days. If you choose to use a transplanting nute I’d advise going 1/4-1/2 strength those autos really don’t like eating too much.
You’re cool, WallyP hit all the notes. Even as recent as a couple of years ago autos were still a little unstable and stress sensitive but today’s genetics from top breeders are very stable. Ph’d water with Recharge, other vitamins, silica only in the FFOC til transplant if you’re up potting into a 3 gal with FFOC then just water with the same plus CalMag for another couple of weeks and then begin your flower nutrient program as WallyP mentioned, they usually start flowering 3-4 weeks so you want to be transplanted and adapted by then. Yep… I would Keep the main focus on keeping her happy and healthy, and just do your 1 transplant when your gut tells you she’s happiest and healthiest and you’ll be fine 🙂
I have been experimenting with transplanting autos for the better part of a year and it’s all about the timing. I know some advanced growers transplant their autos twice. Start in a solo, then into a 1-2 gallon and then into a 5-7 gallon. I personally do not have the cahonies to transplant them twice, so I start mine in 0.5-1gallon and transplant them by the time they show sex (this will happen faster the smaller the pot). Then after they get settled into there final container (4-7 days) I’ll top mine as well. But I also use transplantable grow bags which also help out a lot.
That being said I agree with what everyone else has said, you just want to avoid it getting rootbound because that will trigger it to flower sooner and stunt it. Recharge is an amazing tool, it has saved several of my little ladies get through hard times. Genetics is huge factor as well. The mephistos I have grown were tough girls and could take a lot of stress in comparison to other autos. Definitely worth the price. I’m currently doing transplanting vs final container experiments now to see how they compare out.
Keep growing strong and don’t fret these gals will still have plenty of life to go!
