Hey DGC, it’s me, DABBOD lol π anyways so I have 2 HLG 100 3000k lights at the time they had A option for 3000 K or 4000 K. I just recently Ordered a HLG 100 Rspec the lights are in my Flowering Β Room obviously because thatβs what Rspecs are for but….π can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Rspec and the 3000 K visually I can see red lights reflecting different patterns I just painted my floor with leftover floor paint from painting a garage at work. Besides visibly different patterns and seems to have more red. Can anyone please let me know What each light specifically does better than the other?

Red light is the most effective light spectrum for photosynthesis because it is highly absorbed by chlorophyll A pigments. 660nm Red light wavelengths encourage general vegetative growth in veg and larger dense flowers after the flip to 12/12. It works best in flower period after the stretch, where the plant is more focused on flower development than trying to establish more roots or stem/branch elongation.
My understanding is that the older models used either 3k or 4k diodes but all the diodes were white leds. Pretty sure the new R-spec 100 is mostly 3k diodes but with 4 deep reds added.
The 4k is a bluer light which helps keep plants short and squatty in veg. It would be a good option if you want a veg specific light for some moms or something like that, but the bluer light is less ideal for flowering cannabis. I hear its also popular for growing microgreens.
The R-spec has more red tinted light which helps boost bud production. The spectrum is similar to HLG’s other Rspec lights. It still works great for veg, and the added red helps improve yield in flower. Makes a great light for seed to harvest if you dont’ want to setup a separate veg area.
HLG currently offers the HLG100 in 4k or R-spec. I think the 3k 100w panels are discontinued and they’ve been replaced by the new Rspec version.
I never tried the older versions but I have some plants vegging in a 2×2 with an rspec 100 and they are loving it. The 100w rspec is a beast. Really impressed with how much light it puts out and how cool its running. Looking forward to seeing how it does in flower!
From hlg-
(3500k Samsung LM301H Bin Diodes, 16x 660nm Deep Red, CCT 3150-3250)
You get the benefit of the red while still keeping the super high peak of blue from the 3500k spectrum. You see that the cct is a little higher than just 3000k which means it’s more blue but you get that red peak from the extra red diodes. Best of both light worlds.
Can’t help with your question. But I think your grow space is really tidy. I have the HLG bug too.
I’m glad Soup got in here, he really is a great person to talk HLG with. Grows and JustCoolin dropping knowledge too π
I’m like Grumpy Toad, your grow space looks nice and clean and plenty of room to work with. Awesome!
Thank you to all the DGC for your comments ππ½πͺπ½
