Hi DGC Fam
I use both fabric pots as well as regular plastic in my super soil grow. Love the root pruning with fabric but I find the outer edges dry too fast. Plastic pots solve that problem but they get root bound. I cant afford the really nice lined fabric pots so a bit of saran wrap has solved my problems. Plenty of root prune while keeping a nice damp soil.
Love the idea, look forward to seeing if there’s any benefits before buying the real thing. Thank you!
i know some people may disagree but i think fabric pots are a gimmick. They were created to allow nurseries to inventory plant stocks for longer periods of time, not because they help the root growth, they inhibit it. Roots have to grow to support plant growth, all fabric pots due is reduce the volume of soil that is supportive of root growth. Having to wrap them in plastic is the clearest sign they are not good for plant growth. Grow plants in both and tear the root balls apart and gauge the root mass, i recycle all my soil and my experience has been plastic pots contain 2-3 times the root volume over fabric pots. I grew in exclusivity fabric for over 2 years and I will never go back to fabric again.
