Hey DGC- I have a 6″ AC Infinity fan currently connected to a 6 inch carbon filter in a 20″x36″x60″ (25 ft³) tent. I’d like to stand up my 24″x24″x48″ (16ft³) tent and was wondering if I could split the fan intake to two 4″ filters in order evacuate both? It looks like the rated CFM for the 6″ fan is 402, and for the 4″ filter it’s 210
While I realize that those volume numbers are under ideal conditions and the cubic feet will drop from bends etc in the ducting- it still *seems* like it ought to work if I keep it running at a higher power. What do ya’ll think? Thanks for any help dudes, have a rockin’ one.
You might be able to make it work, but I really would not recommend it.
It’s really best to run one fan per tent. When you start using splitters and other stuff like that you loose a ton of performance and efficiency from your fan.
More importantly, you also lose any ability to dial in your environment. Different tents of different sizes will have different ventilation needs. So adjusting the conditions in one tent will probably throw things out of wack in the other tent.
Probably the biggest advantage of the ac Infinity fans are the advanced environmental control features. you don’t really get to fully utilize the controller if you are trying to run two tents with one fan.
So yeah… Your tents are small and the 6” fan is pretty powerful, so you probably COULD use it to ventilate both tents, but running seperate fans for each tent would give you much better control over your environment. (Which is sorta the whole point of ventilation).
Personally I’d get another 4” fan to use on the smaller tent. Being able to better control your environment is definitely worth the investment.
I’m an authorized dealer for AC Infinity through my website, GrowersLove.com. if you decide to pick up another fan you can use coupon code “DGC FAN” over there to get a discount. 🙂✌️
2 4″ to one 6″ duct is correct for flow but would be exchanging air in the smaller tent faster than in the larger tent and could only control the fan in one of them.
