Thanks for the info of chemoChad. Chad……it explains a CBD strain I grew in the past….very unique. Understanding hermaphrodited plants VS hermaphrodited seeds is tricky to understand. Ive never grown a male plant but I wonder if it takes the same nutrients and treatments as a female plant in flower……or if you can treat it like a bastard step son. LOL
It is great to see the DGC and the different points of view across the country. I hope these episodes inspire more people to create their own medicine. Awesome work Chad. Just wanted to point out and clarify that most elites clones are specific phenos, and many are F1s. Treat males the same as females. The boys tend to be slightly more robust and taller than their sisters. They also have a tendency to show sex at a different pace. Also, it takes at least a month for seeds to mature in the bud. Once you pollinate, you are growing seed – not weed. Good stuff!
Chad is an awesome dude man. Great of you to explain these terms to the DGC so more people can understand about breeding. You and I are extremely similar in our tastes and I was stoked to hear that blueberry is a go to breeding stock for you. It is my all time fave and I intend to use it too. Unfortunately I got one of ten photo seeds pop. I will do something with it male or female but I did want to run a batch of blueberry seeds for the vault. I just put the Durban’s in water last night. I hope they have better viability than the last seeds from them. I have seeds from the DGC that I know will take right off and give me some great herb but I, like you, am trying to create some personalized varieties that I can call mine. And you clearly know the work involved in that. Anyway thanks Scotty and Chad for this segment. Now when I use these terms here maybe more people will know what the hell I’m talking about. Sometimes I will write something about breeding and no one engages. I would really love to see more talk about crossing varieties and how people do their sifts and make their selections. It just doesn’t seem like there are many people really trying to breed. Keep up the good work guys. GROW, SIFT, PRESERVE!
