Sup DGC, I have a DIY solution I don’t believe I’ve heard used before, and want some input on it from anyone who might have tried this before. I’m having minor heating issues in my tent. Temps range a bit on the low side between 65-72F (lights off/on). I live in the same room as my tent and don’t like to pump my room much hotter than it currently is. I’m afraid to put an actual heater in my tent due to obvious reasons (heat, fire, and space). I usually have water bubbling in a 5gal bucket in there. So my question is, Can I use an aquarium heater in the water bucket? Will it change the ambient temp at all? Humidity? Cost efficiency? Or should I just scrap the whole thing and get a small heater outside the tent to raise the lung room air temp? Thanks DGC for all the shared wisdom!
One problem I see is if they bucket runs out of water the aquarium heater might melt the bucket. I left mine plugged in while cleaning my aquarium and it melted the plastic clips that hold it in place in less than a minute. I use in floor heat in my stick build grow closet and that works great.
Most of the modern ones turn themselves off, I like the idea as a fish guy with spares laying around. But if buying something, mats are probably a bit safer and less maintainable. Anything in the water will accumulate on the heater.
Easier to maintain.
How about a seedling heat mat ? Mine has a thermostat on it .
Yeah I like the mat idea too.
Agree with the mat as a way to gently raise heat. Your plants would appreciate at least 75 degrees. You could also look at a vpd chart and adjust your RH to match the lower temps as well.
