I enjoy the show and the information, has anyone used the HLG uvb I have it in my cart but am wondering if it’s worth it?

Misprinted. Hlg UVA
There is a lot of debate on whether UVA (365-385nm) helps at all. Most that have A/B tested have noted that UVB (280-315nm) is the sweet spot for trichome production, while UVA doesn’t typically pay for itself. UVB really isn’t going to be found in an LED at this point–you’ll be looking at T5 tubes. It also only needs to run about 90 minutes/day–any more than that and you will at very least just be wasting electricity. Also, UVB will definitely burn you, so stay out of the tent while it’s on.
PacNW Dan….for a 4×4 tent what size T5 and do you place it overhead similar to reg light?
Thanks!
I have one clipped onto a HLG 600Rspec and can say that I do see a difference when using it. The most noticeable effect I’ve seen is with bringing out the colors during flowering and really making them pop. It does appear to increase resin production on colas that get the most direct light from it. It is like a lot of other products out there that will only add so much; its not going to increase resin production by leaps and bounds but if you have your environment and feed regimen dialed in, it can help kick things up a notch. I’d say give it a try for the price if you already have everything else dialed in and are looking for a little something extra.

This is the one you want!
I got 2 for my 4×4.
Turn on for one hour in the middle of the light cycle, in the last half of flower
No. I love hps and I don’t care who knows it. The bulbs are half off lately
I did some research on the effects of UV light on Cannabis plants and came away with a few things. First the UV light triggers a defensive response in the plants increasing trichome production. Think of the trichomes like sunscreen. Since you are trying to trigger a defense response, you do not want the UV light on full time. It is better to do 15 minute pulses four times per day than to have a full hour of UV directly. Second, the shorter the wave-length, the less amount of UV it requires to trigger this response, UVA requires more time than UVB which requires more time than UVC. Third, UVC causes cancer and can easily burn plants, so it is not recommended at all. The sweet spot is indeed in the UVB area. LEDs can not produce this spectrum, so as Dan mentioned, you are mostly restricted to fluorescents. Since UV can easily burn your plants, go slow to begin with short bursts and gauge how your plant responds.
I personally purchased an AgroMax Pure UV T5 bulb for myself. The AgroMax Pure UV offers 75% UVB and 25% UVA. For the fixture, you want a brushed aluminum frame with no cover over the bulb as the cover filters the UV. I do not see the 4 ft Pure UV bulb I purchased in stock at Amazon, but they have the 2ft in stock. Bonus, the fluorescent Pure UV and Fixture is half price of what the UVA LED costs.
Forget paying 150$ for trash UVA. Go to Migrolight (https://migrolight.com/collections/aray/products/migro-uvb-310-fixture-and-fluorescent-tube#)
And get yourself a UVB and see the difference. Use it last 2 weeks at 2 hrs a day in the middle of grow cycle.
