I came across this technique, and I didn’t find anyone saying that this technique really works. Lighting schedule is as follows 12 hours lights on, 5.5 lights off, 1-hour lights on, 5.5 lights off, and repeat schedule. The 1 hour on in between off period fools the plants that stay in vegetative growth state! Your immediate savings are 5 hours in energy costs daily, as well as your bulbs and equipment lasting longer.
I never saw someone doing this on a commercial level, if this really works, why commercial operations are not doing this?
This is the thread that I saw talking about this method thread
I’ve tried it once and some plants had no issues but some started to flower on me
I guess it depends on the strain really, I did notice that the plants grew slower than normal though.
On a commercial level, this is too large of a gamble. You never know how the whole room / strain will react and if you happen to cause hermies and don’t catch them, that could be a huge hit. An extra hour of light between the dark periods alters your heat / humidity by bringing the lights up long enough to change the ambient temps. That needs to be counteracted by electricity sucking machines.
Hormonally, you are going to be freaking the plant out. Might work, but so does growing standing on your left leg while reciting the national anthem.
works well, IF you know you have a strain that doesnt freak from it.
It works very well for me running 4-5 vars. in a small tent. Flips into flower really fast!
