Hello again! Does anyone know of a grow tent company that manufactures tents without zippers? I’m thinking a magnetic strip? Zippers are too noisy! I need silence in the grow area, and the current zip tent is drawing too much attention. Any help’s appreciated 🙂

Check out octane. There are zippers, but it has a roll up door that you might be able to run without using the zipper. Otherwise if you’ve got a tent with enough flap you can Velcro it all…that’s pretty noisy too. Lol just open the tent up and free ball it 🥳

Noisy zippers lol. Never heard that one before.
LOL! It’s a pain in the arse, the neighbours are next door to my grow shack, and now the summer’s here, they like to hang out right on the other side of the fence – about 3ft away!😕
Maybe to fab something out of nothing!🙃
I like the idea but I’ve never heard of one. The problem would be getting a light-tight seal on the doors. Magnets would work if there were a TON of them and (probably) double light flaps on one side. It would sure make tents last longer – the zipper is always the weak point. Just not sure the tent companies would be willing since they count on us having to replace tents periodically. Lol.
I’m curious….. why are your sippers too loud, lol? I mean, mine aren’t as loud as my fans or humidifier. Like Coach said, this is the first time I’ve heard that complaint. Inquiring mind wants to know. 😀
I’m thinking, how does your fans, ballast, ect. not cause more noise than your zipper? I like the magnet idea, I’ve tried that in the past but my execution was lacking. Always a small light leak somewhere. Had to scrap the idea.
I’ve got a double flap system with magnets on a ‘tent’ made of foam board. The flaps are black plastic sheet and it’s all held together by duct tape. I used 1/4″ dia. by 1/16″ thick neodymium magnets about every 18″ or so. With 2-4 layers of tape between the magnets they have a nice secure ‘snap-into-place’ and are plenty easy to pull apart. It took a lot of figuring and revisions to get right. Not sure how it would translate to your tent but I can share pics if you’re set on trying. I appreciate your need for silence. When I was younger, I needed my parents to fall asleep before working on my cabinet grow as quietly as possible. Thank you Libertarian Dad for letting me think I was keeping a secret.

Nice! 🙂

Thanks for the detailed reply! I’d love to see some pictures of your A-Team style concoction😁
You can email me at 1000cats@protonmail.com and I’ll show you what I’ve done.
I would not mess with trying to replace zippers with something quieter. You really want your doors to be well sealed and light tight. Find another way to cover up the noise.
Get a radio in the shed and listen to music while you work so they can’t hear your zipping.
Interesting comments, and thanks to everyone. I have no idea why this tent has such noisy zips…but they’re pretty gosh darn noisy!
Perhaps I’ll investigate other tent manufacturers for a comparison.
✌🏼
Have you tried unzipping them slowly with you hand kinda holding them a bit taught. I do this when I am trying to be quiet and not wake my so. When I just rip it open fast yea its loud but really slowly its practically silent. I also really liked Soup’s comment about getting a radio to cover your noise. Not the least bit suspicious and will cover the sound nicely. I worry about the noise of my big exhaust more than anything as it can vaguely be heard outdoors. How do you deal with the fan sounds.?
I use silenced ducting, it works amazingly!
